AMSTRAD DRX300
With a neat, silver finish the DRX300 looks far nicer than its predecessors; the DRX100 and DRX200 with their black and chrome styling. Other than that, there aren’t many other cosmetic changes. However, whereas early generation set-top boxes from Amstrad (and other manufacturers) were quite slow, especially when it came to changing channels, the same couldn’t be said of the DRX300. That’s because it used US company Conexant’s latest CX22496 chipset, rather than the lowerspec ST5512 chipset favoured for the previous year’s DRX200.

- High-integration media processor
- V.34 controllerless modem
